Fast pace working and moving in slow motion.

Monday I had emailed enquiring about this particular job. Wednesday we finally got to talking on the phone and 2 hours after that, I started work. I fight the traffic in the morning on the way to the city (because I'm one of the lucky bastards who have access to free parking) and then walk with the masses past town hall and the QVB. I enjoy the cool crisp air while I speed walk. What I really hate is having to breathe what a smoker has exhaled. Disgusting. (Grr...while I'm at this point...I'm starting to think I should walk around eating a kebab and burp in the faces of these people. It's just a thought. Anyways...).

I just finished my first tai chi class at the gym with nazi instructor Frank. You couldn't tell if he was yelling at you or the entire class but it sure was scary at times. Sleeping in next Sunday morning sounds like a better option.

Friday was Daffodil Day - on their website they mentioned hoping to raise 7.8 million dollars for cancer research and support. I like having fresh flowers in a vase and although my jonquils were doing the trick (they smell so nice too!), I didn't particularly like cutting my own flowers from the garden, because well...it's not like I have a whole field of flowersto choose from and anything that I cut really leaves a bare spot amongst the plants outside.

So while I was out, I spotted the daffodils for sale at Coles. They were all wrapped with plastic stating that it was Daffodil day etc etc and I figured all funds would go toward the cancer research. No price in sight either so I walked in with the flowers, did some light grocery shopping and paid for the goods. When I got home, I was furious to find out that only ONE FREAKIN DOLLAR (AUS Dollar mind you, so it's almost peanuts compared to many places.) of what I paid went towards the fund. I paid more than double the amount those flowers usually cost too! GRR. That is just really pathetic of a big company in my opinion. I mean, fine, if you're always going to sell flowers and donate one dollar each time, but this is one particular day of the year that you sell the flowers. I might as well have paid $4.50 for them at the florist and just donated all that extra money I actually paid for the flowers. Alright, I'm done complaining. I just get so mad every time I look at the flowers and the daffodil is supposed to be a symbol of hope for all people affected with cancer =( Sorry.

Hot chocolate with marshmallows.

I was sitting in the cafe today, reading up on my notes, but what I really wanted to do was to write you a letter, like in the old days. All I could hear was the irritating voice of a Chinese-Australian girl, about my age, explaining to a friend all about her dilemmas. What I really wanted was silence or perhaps the sound of low background cafe music, so I could recall a pleasant conversation I had with you once. One that left me smiling for days.

Outside there was a mother of two pushing her kids back and forth in a bright green supermarket trolley. Her eldest daughter was about three, with strawberry blond hair that ran away with the wind while she shook her hips left to right, her tiny fingers gripping onto the trolley's frame. It was sweet and I realised then that that girl's irritating voice was gone even though I could still see her out of the corner of my eye, her lips still moving. Nothing but soft background cafe music.

When I looked up again from my notes, the mother with her two kids were gone and seated in front of me were a very elderly couple having coffee and cake and immersed in conversation. They seemed happy. I hope I get to that stage someday and that someone else will be sitting in my seat, looking my way and wanting the same thing.

I'm alive

There's nothing like a good dinner with a good friend. And what better than a friend that gives you the comfy suede booth seat, facing the desserts behind the glass counter! Ahh..I love the friend that lets me endulge guilt-free on an entree, main meal, TWO different types of cakes for dessert, and coffee..... she matched me plate for plate and even gave me a share of her mains =)

We watched Wedding Crashers. I think I've seen enough boobs for a good while now..

All in all, it was a great night...cept for the part where I had to wait on the main road for what seemed like an hour because they were resurfacing it and I had nothing but the terrible sound of golden oldie hits blaring from the radio and the comfort of knowing that my cat sneaks into the garage at night when I'm asleep and walks all over the car windscreen!!^$& Talk about being busted, red-pawed. Haha! C'mon, that was funny, admit it.

I miss the sea.

Uncovered feet is completely out of the question.

I've been back almost a week and I can't stand this cold. My fingers are frozen. My toes are frozen. Damn, even my butt is frozen.

I forgot to thank the nice ole lady who coughed all over my personal space at the seminar this weekend, resulting in me being sick now. Thank you.

So long. My job is done!

I love the last minute mad rush of shopping and packing and squeezing in a swim and eating all those delicious foods I'm not going to get to eat for months and months!
